John Pessetto's System
We showed up one evening to mount a second Schroeder Reference on John's Quattro - for the purpose of comparing cartridges. The longer (Jacaranda) arm is John's.
In the top, left photo, you can see John's Oris horns which are covered with a blue "sock". Beneath, is a Klipsch corner horn.
John actively crosses over to the Klipsches using the low-pass section of a Marchand crossover and a dedicated amp. The high-pass crossover to the the Orises is handled by the parts selection (inter-stage transformer and output transformer) in the power amp photographed below.
John only specifies iron from Intact Audio for his special projects. Those of you who are familiar with Dave Slagle's work will know why.
The driver stage in John's amp is a battery heated, directly heated triode. Originally, the output stage employed with Telefunken transmitting tubes. John is currently using a 75TL's for the output.
This is a stereo amplifier with a twist. The external power supply chassis has a separate supply for both the driver and the output stage. John wanted to keep this design to two chassis, and favored a dedidicated environment for each amplification stage over building conventional monoblocks.
