Arms ...

  • Schroeder
  • - A simple website, Frank is busy building tonearms. When people begin to describe these tonearms, they suddenly stop using technical terms and begin to speak about music. We can think of no higher compliment.

The arms are cloaked in mystery, but are the essence of simplicity. We have dedicated ourselves to being your comprehensive information source for all things Schroeder. Visit our Schroeder Tonearm Section for comparison photos, charts, descriptions, FAQs, and more. Schroeder manuals are located on our support page.

  • Triplanar - What more can we say about this tonearm that hasn't already been said? We're proud to offer this fine tonearm as more than just an alternative to the Schroeder.

Talk to us for guidance if the Triplanar is on your short list of tonearms.

Setup ease and flexibility, coupled with world-class sonics place the Triplnar Ultimate in the top echelon of tonearms. Watch our Triplanar page as we add more information, setup tips, and compatibility notes in the coming months.

  • Graham Engineering
  • - In the past, we never completely warmed up to Bob Graham's tonearms ... until we heard them on our turntables, learning once more to not shoot the messenger. For years, Bob Graham has been a voice in the wilderness - contending that the low-Q characteristic of his arms produced accurate bass. On our turntables, we can say that we agree with Bob.

  • Moerch
  • - Scandinavian design sensibilities in analog reproduction.

  • SME - classic industrial design, with their vintage arms as well as contemporary designs preferred by many.

  • Eminent Technology - how many imitators have we seen of Bruce Thigpen's ground-breaking air bearing linear tracking tonearm?

Cartridges ...

  • Dynavector - we sell these cartridges because we love them.

  • ZYX - Contact one of the nicest fellows in audio (Mehran) for one of the finest cartridge lines in audio.

  • Ortofon
In North America (Vancouver, Canada), e-mail Peter Wolber or call him at (604) 886.5788

Manufacturers We Like ...

  • Quicksilver Audio - Quicksilver has been in business since 1982 - for a good reason. Their products deliver the sonic goods, and have a well deserved reputation for solid design, construction, and reliability.

  • Hagerman Technology - Jim Hagerman is an innovator who never loses site of the goal. He manufactures the widely acclaimed Trumpet and Coronet phono stages. Everyone needs his FryKleaner and RIAA burn-in circuits. Check his site for good technical articles on cartridge loading and other electronic and tube related items.

  • Intact Audio - For those of you who know the "Joe List", the name Dave Slagle needs no introduction. Dave is quietly making a name for himself as the custom transformer winder of choice. He winds some of the finest moving coil step-up transformers on the planet.

  • Exprience Music - Custom commissioned products from Jeffrey Jackson. Jeffrey can also assemble your Intact audio step-up transformers and autoformer volume controls into a box for you.

  • Bent Audio - John Chapman is another innovator for whom we have the greatest respect. He is working with Dave Slagle (Intact Audio) on some interesting projects. John has an uncanny knack for sourcing esoteric components for the advanced electronic hobbyist.

  • Analog Tube Audio - A German company, perhaps best known for their bronze bearing upgrade for the knife edge bearings on the SME 3012 and 3009 tonearms.

Friends ...

  • Lynn Olson - It's a little known fact that Lynn is indirectly responsible for what eventually became Galibier Design. The story is too long to tell here, but have a look at Lynn's great writing and creative thought on the evolution of audio. Buried in his extensive website are some provative articles - grouped together in the Soul of Sound Library. Check out his "Illusion Engines" essay.

  • John Atwood - Many of you know of John - either as the designer of Artemis Labs Electronics or as the brains behind the transformer company One-Electron.

John has a provocative Web Log which can be linked to by clicking here. He covers all areas of technology and music with a refreshing, incisive perspective.

  • Steve Bench - If I only knew half of what Steve forgot. Steve has some great tutorials on vacuum tube electronics on his web page. Look at his multi-part series on load lines. Absolutely look at his RIAA circuit that uses no capacitors.

  • Stephen Robinson - Stephen is another forward thinker. If you're considering designing your own gear, you need to visit his site.

  • Jeremy Epstein - An innovative thinker with the courage to pick up his soldering iron to try out all of the circuits swimming around in his head. We have it on good advice that he'll build his new 6C45π phono stage for you if you ask him nicely. Check out his blog at: http://tubegeek.blogspot.com/
