Visiting Boulder

At the risk of your confusing us with the Colorado Department of Tourism, the Boulder area is an ideal departure point for a great family vacation. It is also located 35 miles Northwest of downtown Denver, making it an ideal side trip for those traveling to Colorado on business.

Boulder is the gateway to attractions like Rocky Mountain National Park, Eldorado Canyon State Park, and the Indian Peaks Wilderness.

  • Guide to Boulder
  • Norman Koren's Photographic Guide to Boulder - and much more. Norman is a local audiophile and an extremely talented photographer. This site is highly recommended, not only for the wealth of links to Boulder resources, but for his wonderful photographic eye.
  • Rocky Mountain National Park - located 35 miles Northwest of Boulder, "the Park" (as we affectionately call it) is one of the jewels of the National Park System.
  • The Chautauqua Auditorium hosts a Spring, Summer music series, and is just South of the University Hill area - at the base of Flagstaff Mountain - a part of Boulder's extensive open space network.
  • Rockygrass Bluegrass Festival - in Lyons, Colorado books most of the same acts as the Telluride Bluegrass Festival - being brought to you by the same folks who produce it. Lyons is 12 miles Northwest of Boulder, and the festival is held on the last weekend in of July. Click this link for some photos from the 2005 festival.
  • Records - at Bart's Vinyl Attic as well at Doug Gaddy's "For the Records".
  • Ski Country USA - we would be remiss if we didn't include a link to Colorado's ski areas.

Boulder Maps and Directions from DIA (Denver International Airport)

Maps

With the recent completion of the Northwest Parkway extension of E-470, you can now take high-speed roads from the airport to Boulder.

The Northwest Parkway will take you from the East/West road exiting the airport (Pena Blvd.) to US 36 (the Boulder-Denver Turnpike).

The Northwest Parkway is a toll road which will cost you $6.00 as of November, 2006.

You no longer need to pack a roll of quarters. You will encounter three major toll plazas along the route - with each one being staffed and collecting $2.00.

At the entrance to US 36, you will be in Broomfield - about 10 miles Southeast of Boulder.

Upon reaching the Turnpike entrance (US 36) in Broomfield, continue towards Boulder. The Turnpike will turn into 28th street - shortly before you reach Baseline Road at the South end of Boulder.

Reference the links above, for updates, construction information, maps, and other details.
